Centennial College: Planning and project management

Exciting developments at Ontario's first community college have led to a dramatic rethinking of its facility needs. Among the capital projects under consideration is the development of a satellite campus for the newly accredited Culture and Heritage Institute, part of the Tourism and Hospitality School, on the site of the former Guild Inn. Restoration of the commercial and cultural assets on this beautiful site would address the interests of the City, the community, and the College through a model 3-P partnership designed to provide practical learning opportunities in an inspiring setting. It would also provide the College with hotel, restaurant, and conference facilities to support the schedule of international events planned by the Institute and other Schools, beginning with a symposium on built heritage preservation in June. NetGain's role is to oversee outsourced work on branding and marketing of the symposium, preparation of a proposal in response to an anticipated RFP from the City of Toronto to develop the site, and integration of this and other facility plans as part of an overall space strategy for the College as a whole.

City of Toronto: Special Agency Review

Working with the Randolph Group for the past year, NetGain Partners has contributed to program reviews for the City of Toronto's Economic Development and Tourism Division and for an arm's length land development agency. The assignment has required alignment with related initiatives such as the "Prosperity for Agenda" and the "Blueprint for Fiscal Stability and Economic Prosperity". In addition to background research on the City's divisions and agencies and comparisons with other cities, this work has required direct consultation with more than 150 internal and external stakeholders to gain detailed knowledge about a broad range of structures, systems, policies, and programs.

Kaha:wi Dance Theatre: Strategic Planning and General Management

NetGain Partners has provided pro bono planning and managerial assistance to founding Artistic Director, Santee Smith, since the first year of the company's existence. In 2008 NetGain was formally engaged to provide strategic planning help and to assume managerial responsibilities formerly held by Dance Umbrella of Ontario. This is a time of growth for Kaha:wi as it builds a mainstage audience to match its critical acclaim. This makes clear planning and energetic management more important than ever. NetGain is also pleased to be working on this assignment with former NetGain Associate, Tamar Huberman, who is currently working with Arts & Communications on sponsorship marketing of Kaha:wi's upcoming season.

Case Study

Shortly after amalgamation, the new City of Toronto engaged NetGain Partners Inc. to undertake a study of large performing arts venues and the role that local government could play in stimulating activity in the commercial theatre industry.
