Doug Simpson

Doug Simpson is the Managing Director of NetGain Partners, Inc. He has over 20 years of experience as a consultant, researcher, analyst and writer. Doug has enjoyed a broad range of assignments that have required original research and analysis of both operational and strategic issues. Doug’s current assignments include on-going contributions to the Special Agency Review for the City of Toronto’s Economic Development Culture and Tourism Division, in partnership with the Randolph Group; providing strategic counsel to Centennial College; and developing strategic plans for Kaha:wi Dance Theatre.

Doug's voluntary commitments have included the founding of a small tenants’ association that he led through a 3-year, $12 million project resulting in a 110-unit not-for-profit co-op community in downtown Toronto. He sits on the board of the Toronto Scottish Rugby Football Club and Fletchers Field Ltmd in Markham, Ontario.

Recent assignments include a program review of the City of Toronto's Economic Development Culture and Tourism Division; business plannning for the Canadian Music Centre; and the development of an evaluative tool for the analysis of third party management models at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.  

Prior to his consulting career, Doug completed an MFA in Creative Writing at the UBC and spent six years in not-for-profit management and marketing.

Case Study

Shortly after amalgamation, the new City of Toronto engaged NetGain Partners Inc. to undertake a study of large performing arts venues and the role that local government could play in stimulating activity in the commercial theatre industry.
